Representatives, employees, and volunteers of the Roma Methodological and Research Center (RMRC) will soon travel to Malta to expand international relations and strengthen organizational competencies as part of a professional cooperation initiative.

The purpose of the visit is for the center’s professionals to personally acquaint themselves with the host institution, the Pastoral Formation Institute, a leading adult education organization in the Mediterranean region.

The visit will be part of a multi-day program that includes learning about best practices, gaining cultural insights, and fostering team building. The Erasmus-supported program aims to familiarize participants with the educational organization linked to the Maltese parish. Recently, RMRC staff engaged in personal consultations with the host organization to finalize the details of the January visit.

“The aim of the preparatory meeting was to familiarize ourselves with the host organization, discuss the details of the application through personal interaction, and thereby strengthen our relationships,” emphasized Edina Hajnalné Gál, head of educational and training establishments.

Through its diverse activities, the Pastoral Formation Institute offers training opportunities to participants from around the world. During the cooperation, particular emphasis will be placed on professional knowledge exchange, the application of innovative methods, and the promotion of cultural awareness. As part of the program, RMRC’s staff will not only participate in professional training but will also broaden their cultural understanding and engage in team-building activities.

“The goal of the project is for faith-based and missionary professionals involved in the service to gain experiences that they can incorporate into their own work, thereby broadening their perspectives. The project strives to ensure that as many Roma-origin professionals as possible can participate in international knowledge exchange,” added Edina Hajnalné Gál.

The partnership between RMRC and the Pastoral Formation Institute prioritizes the development of the adult education system, the enhancement of participants’ professional skills, and the promotion of social inclusion. Such international collaborations contribute in the long term to enabling participants to strengthen their European civic identity while adopting new perspectives and methods.

The program is funded by the grant titled “Development of RMRC Staff in a European Professional Environment” under reference number 2023-1-HU01-KA122-ADU-000147969.
