civil event

Since its inception, Hungarian Gypsy Missions International has prioritized supporting religious and civil organizations—both within Hungary and across its borders—that promote the integration and advancement of disadvantaged communities. Hosting a Civil Information Day has become a tradition at the organization’s headquarters in Békés, and this year’s event featured a unique format. Attendees were able to receive expert advice from the mission’s leaders and professionals through a roundtable discussion.

“Currently, twenty-six civil organizations are connected to the mission, and we regard them as strongholds. We believe that through them, we can reach a much wider audience and provide greater opportunities for local communities to apply for funding, implement programs, and express their faith. We stand behind you, ready to help you grow and thrive,” said Albert Durkó, President in his welcoming speech.

The Information Day provided a broad range of guidance, with representatives from the legal, financial, employment, project management, communication, and training sectors available to assist attendees and address their questions.

“Our association, Mégis Remény, aims to support the work of affiliated civil organizations. In previous years, our main goal was to provide these groups with a platform to introduce themselves. However, with this year’s roundtable discussions, we wanted to elevate our approach and foster more effective communication with participants,” emphasized Tímea Fajóné Kisházi, advisor from the department supporting the civil network.

The civil organizations associated with the mission primarily engage in faith-based activities, including charitable work, organizing community-building programs, and offering personal support. These efforts contribute to the mission’s overarching goal of bringing hope to the most vulnerable and underserved members of society.
