As in previous years, the professional event organized by the Reményhír Educational Operations Centre attracted significant interest and was held at the headquarters of HGMI. In her lecture titled Education in the Service of Life, Rita Pécsi Uzsalyné — an educational researcher and lecturer at Apor Vilmos Catholic College — shared insights drawn from decades of professional and personal experience.
Since 2017, the Reményhír Educational OperationsCentrehas served as a base institution of the Education Authority of Hungary, placing strong emphasis not only on involving parents in its programs, but also on offering professional events for educators.
“It has long been our plan to invite Dr. Rita Pécsi Uzsalyné, as we ourselves experience in our work that it’s not enough to appeal solely to intellect and educate—the development of emotional intelligence is equally essential. I believe that the lectures delivered today will offer significant support for our future professional endeavors,” emphasized Bernadett Illés Durkóné, Director of the Reményhír Educational Operations Centre.
Rita Pécsi Uzsalyné regularly tours the country with her lectures. As she explained, educational institutions tend to focus primarily on increasing IQ, while emotional development often takes a back seat. This imbalance can lead to numerous difficulties in students’ later lives.
“I would like to draw attention to the vital role emotional stability plays in living a successful life. The digital world does a lot of harm nowadays, but I believe that by presenting effective systems, we can assist both parents and educators in navigating difficult life situations. In my opinion, many children are disadvantaged, even those from financially stable backgrounds. In Békés, I observe that teachers take on the responsibility of not only delivering curriculum content but also understanding the whole child and fostering their talents. I deeply appreciate this approach,” said the lecturer.
