Maltese partners

A Maltese delegation arrived at the Hungarian Gypsy Missions International. The Roma Methodology and Research Centre recently strengthened ties with its Maltese partners through a project that facilitated staff visits to Malta and the Pastoral Formation Institute.

As part of a successful Erasmus initiative, staff from the Roma Methodology and Research Centre participated in a study trip to Malta in January, hosted by the region’s leading adult education organization. In a reciprocal gesture, a four-member delegation of Maltese professionals recently visited HGMI, gaining a wealth of valuable experiences. The visitors immersed themselves in all areas of the mission’s work—an especially meaningful endeavor, given their involvement in adult education, religious, and charitable services back home. Alongside official programs, the delegation had the opportunity to tour landmarks in Budapest and several towns in Békés County.

“The purpose of our visit to Hungary was to learn and exchange experiences. Our earlier meeting in Malta laid a strong foundation for long-term cooperation, for which we are very grateful. Although the two missions differ in many respects, they also share numerous similarities, making this partnership truly promising,” emphasized Albert Debono, head of the delegation.

The HGMI’s extensive international network greatly enhances its services. The partnership between the Pastoral Formation Institute and the Roma Methodology and Research Centre promises further opportunities for staff at both organizations to embrace new perspectives and innovative methods essential to their missions. According to representatives, the recent meeting was so productive that work has already begun on a new joint project.
