Representatives of the Roma Methodology and Research Center recently participated in a transformative professional journey to Malta. The purpose of the trip was to learn from the best practices of their Maltese hosts, gain cultural insights, and strengthen their community. The delegation was hosted by the Pastoral Formation Institute, one of the region’s leading adult education organizations.
During the multi-day program, participants gained an in-depth understanding of Malta’s adult education methodologies and explored the diverse work of the Catholic-affiliated institute.
“We believe that the experiences gained in Malta will greatly benefit our colleagues in the future. They can integrate innovative methods, adopt fresh approaches, and engage their target audience more effectively,” emphasized Orsolya Erdész Gálné, Coordination Deputy of the President.
The visit provided mission workers with the opportunity to reflect on their own work from an international perspective and draw new inspiration.
“We heard many key insights during the lectures that align with our mission’s vision. It was particularly inspiring to see how effectively Maltese organizations apply the values we uphold,” added Edina Gál Hajnalné, Head of Educational and Training Establishments.
Cultural Experiences and Community Building
Beyond professional programs, participants also explored Malta’s rich history and cultural heritage.
Pastor Tivadar Tóth particularly valued the opportunities for joint reflection and collaboration:
“It was a great joy for me to be part of this journey. It was inspiring to see that the Maltese organization carries out a similarly diverse mission as we do. Sharing experiences can enhance all our efforts.”
Building the Future Together
The professional workshops, interactive training sessions, and personal meetings provided by the Pastoral Formation Institute gave the Roma Methodology and Research Center staff fresh perspectives. They now aim to apply the knowledge and inspiration gained to their domestic educational and mission work.
The journey to Malta was not only a professional development opportunity but also a meaningful experience in community-building. The integration of the acquired knowledge has already begun, ensuring that the program’s impact will continue to shape the center’s adult education initiatives.
